CANTON, OH (WOIO) - Five Canton firefighters have been suspended for alleged shift trading.

Canton Fire Chief John Whitlatch confirms the suspensions and alleged work violations to 19 Action News.

The suspensions proceed the department's shift trading probe.

It's the same scandal that rocked the Cleveland Fire Department in recent months.

The five Canton firefighters were handed down various suspensions earlier this week, three of the five were suspended for two months.

The firefighters involved have been identified as Andrew Bolgiano, Rosario Carcione, William Hallas, Timothy Givens and Kevin Gordon. Carcione is the president of the Canton Professional Firefighter's Association.

According to Chief Whitlatch, the alleged shift trading happened between October through November 2011.
