2013 Buckeye Wheelchair Games

The 2013 Buckeye Wheelchair Games are scheduled for May 17-18, 2013. Competitive events will take place at the SPIRE Institute located at 1822 South Broadway in Geneva, Ohio. The Games promote rehabilitation through rigorous competition in such events as air guns, archery, bowling, field events, billiards, slalom, swimming, table tennis, track, bocce and weightlifting.

Lottery fever hits Northeast Ohio!

Lottery fever is growing all across Northeast Ohio!

No big winner in the Mega Millions Tuesday night and that jackpot is now rising to $190M.

Plus, the Powerball jackpot tonight is jumping to $360M.

That's the third highest on record.

Teens who text and drive are more likely to take other chances

In 2011, nearly half of high school students 16 and older reported texting while driving in a large national survey. Teens who reported texting while driving also were more likely to behave in other risky ways. They were five times more likely than those who did not text while driving to operate a car when they had been drinking alcohol. And those who texted more often were much more likely to skip wearing a seat belt.

Woman injured, dogs killed in Canton house fire

CANTON, OH (WOIO)- A Canton home was destroyed in an overnight fire that sent one woman to the hospital Thursday morning.

The Canton fire department responded to the blaze on Arnold Avenue Northwest at 12:50 a.m.

There were an unconfirmed number of people inside the home during the fire.

One woman was rushed to an area hospital for burn injuries.

Firefighters also say three caged dogs died inside the home.

Officials believe the fire may have started in the kitchen, but the cause is under investigation.

Nature-lovers are alive and well and enjoying the great outdoors in Greater Cleveland with 16,286,944 recreation visits to Cleveland Metroparks recorded in 2012, up from 15,567,093 visits reported in 2011. Also popular are the Park District Outdoor Education programs with attendance of 474,595 in 2012, up from 437,509 reported in 2011.
