Between 2009 and 2011 the number of passengers 18 years and younger hurt in an alcohol related crash includes: 125 not injured, 28 possible injuries, 28 non-incapacitating, 14 incapacitating, 1 fatality and 6 unknown injuries.
As a result of the negative impact from these crashes on the county, the Stark County OVI Task Force – comprised of Alliance, Beach City, Brewster, Canal Fulton, Canton, East Canton, Jackson, Lake, Lawrence, Louisville, Magnolia, Massillon, Minerva, Navarre, North Canton, Perry, Stark County Parks District, Stark County Sherriff’s Office, Waynesburg and the Ohio State Highway Patrol – is increasing their efforts to actively protect Stark County residents in the month of June.
Tomorrow the Task Force will be conducting multiple checkpoints in Stark County. Additional information about these checkpoints will be sent out immediately before the official beginning time of the checkpoints.
“The goal of these checkpoints is to provide the public with a safe means for traveling throughout Stark County,” said Wil Hemker, the Task Force’s project director.
