TODAY:  Scattered strong t-storms this morning, then severe t-storms developing this afternoon.  Otherwise, partly cloudy warm and humid.  High: 86.  Wind: W 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT:  Severe storms early, then a brief break overnight.  Low: 63. 

FRIDAY:  A mix of sun and clouds.  Not as warm.  A few scattered storms.  High: 76


A severe thunderstorms watch is in effect for Northeast Ohio until 11am.  We are seeing a few strong t-storms producing hard downpours, strong wind gusts, and some small sized hail.  This threat will continue early this morning, and then severe storms will be a concern this afternoon as a cold front swings through into tonight.  Expect it to dry out overnight, with the threat of a few isolated storms Friday.  Then we'll look for the threat of more severe storms Saturday before drying out Sunday.

Sunny and hot for this Memorial Day.  Expect blazing sunshine to take us up to 90.  Both today and tomorrow, temperatures will get, tie or even break record highs across our area.  Thunderstorm threat returns late Tuesday with the next cold front, but quickly exits for a sunny and not as hot Wednesday. 

TODAY: Mostly sunny and hot.  High: 90. Wind: SW at 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild.  Low: 72. Wind: SW at 5 - 10 mph.

TUESDAY: Sunny with potentially record breaking heat.  High: 92 which would tie the record of 92 set back in 1944.

TODAY: Mostly cloudy. Scattered PM showers and storms mainly in our southern communities. Cooler especially along the lakeshore counties. High: Mid 60s along the lake to low 70s well inland. Wind: SW-North at 7-17 mph.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and cooler Low: Around 50. Wind: SW at 11-22 mph.

WEDNESDAY: Increasing clouds with rain and storms developing by evening. High: Low 70s.

A cold front will moves through on today keeping the risk of storms around in our southern communities. We're not expecting widespread severe storms this afternoon. It will be a noticeably cooler and less humid today with highs around 70 degrees. The front stalls just south of the area for the next several days keeping the threat for showers and storms around through the end of the week.

Whipping winds wreak havoc on Northeast Ohio, thousands without power

Whipping winds wreak havoc on Northeast Ohio, thousands without power

Wild winds causing a number of power outages around Northeast Ohio this morning.

Lorain hit the hardest, with more than 10,000 customers without power. The Cleveland-area a close second, with 5,000-10,000 without juice.

First Energy has crews working to restore the power, but there is no word how long it will take at this time.

A HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10AM THIS
MORNING.

NUMEROUS REPORTS OF HIGH WINDS HAVE BEEN REPORTED OVER THE PAST
FEW HOURS FROM BOTH AUTOMATED GAGES AS WELL AS LAW
ENFORCEMENT...TRAINED SPOTTERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. WINDS
RANGING BETWEEN 55 MPH TO AS HIGH AS 67 MPH HAVE BEEN REPORTED
THIS MORNING ACROSS THE WESTERN HALF OF THE FORECAST AREA THIS
MORNING. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTS OF WIND DAMAGE ACROSS THE
WESTERN PORTION OF THE WARNED AREA.

WIND GUSTS AROUND 60 MPH WITH PERHAPS EVEN HIGHER GUSTS ARE
EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS THIS MORNING.
THESE GUSTS ARE EXPECTED TO PUSH INTO THE EASTERN PORTION OF THE
FORECAST AREA AS THE STRONG LOW PRESSURE MOVES TO THE NORTHEAST
AWAY FROM THE AREA.

A HIGH WIND WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN GUSTS OF 58 MPH OR GREATER ARE
EXPECTED. DAMAGE TO TREES...POWER LINES...AND PROPERTY ARE
POSSIBLE WITH WINDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE. HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES ARE
